Fried Chicken in the air fryer is so good! With just a couple of steps, you’ll have fried chicken in no time. I like to use panko breadcrumbs.
It’s very easy to take this simple recipe and spice it up if desired. Sprinkle to taste with your own spicy favorites such as garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, poultry seasoning, smoked paprika, etc. Cayenne pepper is a good addition for those who like it HOT!!
Fried Chicken in the Air Fryer
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c buttermilk
- 1 c self rising flour
- 1 c panko breadcrumbs
- salt & pepper to taste
- 6 drumsticks
- spray oil
Mix together eggs and buttermilk in a shallow dish.
In another shallow dish, combine the flour, panko crumbs, salt and pepper.
Sprinkle the chicken legs with salt and pepper to taste.
Dip legs in buttermilk mixture, then roll in panko mixture, pressing in crumbs to make coating stick then mist with the oil.
Spray air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray.
Cook drumsticks at 360 F for 25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Turn drumsticks to check for browning. If you have any white spots that have not begun to brown, spritz with oil or cooking spray. Continue cooking for 5 more minutes or until crust is golden brown and juices run clear. Larger drumsticks may take longer to cook.
