What do you need to make Potato Soup?
With just a few ingredients, you can have this Instant Pot loaded potato soup ready in a snap.
- Potatoes – peel and chop potatoes up into bite size pieces.
- Onion – your favorite onion finely chopped will work.
- Garlic – garlic cloves taste amazing in this recipe with the intense flavor.
- Heavy Cream – great for the creamy base.
- Chicken Broth – adds a bit of flavor to the dish.
- Shredded cheese – I like to use sharp or mild cheddar cheese.
- Bacon bits – you can use bacon and chop up or go the easy route and use bacon bits.
How do you make Instant Pot Potato Soup?
- Chop the potatoes, onion and peel three cloves of garlic and add to the Instant Pot.
- Add in the chicken broth, salt and pepper.
- Pressure cook for 12 minutes with a 5 minute natural pressure release.
- Once complete, add in the cream cheese, cheddar cheese and cream. Use a potato masher to blend everything together.
- Scoop into bowls and add your favorite toppings such as bacon bits, cheese, or sour cream.

- 8 oz cream cheese
- 1 c sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 1/2 c heavy cream
