Apple Cinnamon Pork Chops are a delicious, sweet meal. This Instant Pot or Crockpot pork chops recipe is incredibly easy to make, and very tasty.
Instant Pot & Crockpot Apple Cinnamon Pork Chops
Apples go particularly well with pork chops. That sweet & savory combination is wonderful.
What Type of Pork Chops Work Best?
All pork chops are not equally delicious. Pork chops are lean and somewhat quick to cook. When they are overly cooked, you will get a tough chewy piece of meat. When cooked correctly, they can be so juicy and flavorful.
The pork loin porterhouse is known as the “cadillac” of pork chops. This cut comes from the hip part of the loin and includes a piece of the tenderloin and loin, separated by a T-shaped bone. If you do not have this type of chop, I would recommend the pork rib chop. It is cut from the center of the pork loin, which makes it tender with a good cut of meat and also includes a T-shaped rib bone. This is the kind I used above.
Do the Chops Need to be Browned First?
No they don’t. They come out delicious just by adding them in as is. When using the Instant Pot, I do saute’ them for about 30 seconds on each side before putting them in the pressure cooker. You can also use a pan on the stovetop to brown them a bit before adding to the crockpot.
This recipe is really easy to make, because there is no pre-cooking involved. Just layer in the ingredients and cook!
Favorite Apples to Use?
I prefer to use Granny Smith apples. You could also mix it up with Gala and Granny Smith so it’s not as tart. You can use your favorite kind, and I peel them or leave the peeling on.
