Are you a Hamburger Helper fan? You may have been when you were a kid. I wasn’t introduced to it until I got to college. My husband made it for me for our first Valentine’s Day dinner. That sounds funny and we still laugh about it. I thought it was the sweetest since he didn’t know much about cooking. After that, I never looked at Hamburger Helper the same.
He was really proud and we smiled at each other over our bowl of hamburger helper, haha! I remember he also had a bouquet of roses, an Eeyore plush and a framed picture of us together. Such sweet memories, so every time I make something that resembles his masterpiece, I smile and daydream about how young we were.
Easy weeknight dump and go Cheeseburger Mac
Three kids later however, it always gets devoured and we rarely have any leftovers. Instant Pot Cheeseburger Mac Hamburger Helper seems to be one of those dinners that is a go to on busy weeknights.
The best part is it’s practically dump and go, making it simple and fast! It’s everything you want in an easy weeknight meal, plus it’s kid-approved. Who wouldn’t love mac and cheese with beef in it?
You are going to love how easy this recipe is! Basically, you brown the meat, and the rest is a breeze. Just throw all of the ingredients (including the browned meat) into the Instant Pot and you’re done!
As an adult, while I’m not over the top healthy, I do try to pay attention to what goes into my kids bodies and that boxed meal of the past, just isn’t the best option in my opinion. Most importantly, do what you feel is best.
Do I need to drain the meat?
It’s funny how often I get asked this question. The answer really depends on what type of meat you use. I often purchase lean meat or meat from a local farm. When I purchase from a local farm, I never have to drain the meat because their isn’t enough or any to drain.
If you prefer, you can rinse the meat with water to remove the extra oils. If you tend to purchase meats that are 80% lean or below, then you may need to drain the excess. Therefore, if it is lean then you do not.
