Easy Fettuccine Alfredo
My roommate from college first introduced me to homemade fettuccine alfredo. That’s when I thought I didn’t have any time, but three kids later… I had all kinds of time, ha! I just love fettuccine Alfredo, especially one that’s creamy without being watered down. Everything tastes better with a little garlic, so don’t forget that. This wouldn’t be on my list if it wasn’t easy and delicious!
This fettuccine Alfredo reminds me of the best Alfredo from my favorite restaurants, but it’s made in the Instant Pot in under 30 minutes. The best part is that it’s so much cheaper and I only have to clean one dish. That’s a double yes for me!
Our family loves this, so it’s definitely kid-approved.
Can I add chicken to my fettuccine?
Of course you can add chicken! I sometimes make shredded chicken ahead of time in the Instant Pot and then add it into recipes that call for it.
How can I make plain chicken ahead for meal prep or to freeze for other meals? Instant Pot Chicken is really easy for meal prep! Whether you want tender & juicy shreddable or cubed chicken tenders, this is the post for you!
Whenever I buy chicken breasts, I always cut them into strips or cubes as they come in all different sizes! Ha! This is one of the reasons I love cooking with chicken tenders! Set cook times WORK! I have tested numerous times with many recipes!! I find that chicken tenders always come out so much better without being like rubber or undercooked.
As with all Instant Pot recipes, you’ll need liquid first. I prefer chicken broth for flavor, but water can also work. I cut breasts into strips or buy them in strips. Season as you’d like, I usually use salt and pepper as I add it into more flavorful dishes.
Frozen: Cook on Manual HIGH for 8 minutes, with a 8 minute NPR.
Fresh: Cook on Manual HIGH for 6 minutes, with a 6 minute NPR.
So easy, and I try to make everything super simple because let’s face it, life is too busy to make chicken complicated!
Now you can slice, cube or shred the chicken.
To freeze, let the cubed or shredded chicken cool completely and then freeze in zip bags. I usually place 2 cups of chicken in each bag. Flatten the bag and the chicken is ready whenever you need a quick and simple meal! When needed, let it sit out for 20-30 minutes.

Ingredient notes
In case you were wondering the specifics, I included them below.
- Fettuccine – I sometimes use store brand or whatever is on sale at the time. You could also use linguine if you have that on hand.
- Parmesan cheese – I sprinkle shredded parmesan cheese at the end for extra yummy cheese. You can also use grated parmesan cheese if desired.
- Chicken broth – Chicken broth or stock both work fine.
- Garlic: You can use 2 garlic cloves or 1 teaspoon of dried minced garlic.
Instructions
This recipe is not only budget-friendly, it is simple and easy. You will be ready to add this on the dinner rotation. We always like garlic breadsticks and salad to go with it.
The first step is to add the broth, water, garlic (cloves or minced), salt, pepper and noodles to the Instant Pot.
Do not stir, but make sure all noodles are covered. You may add a bit more broth if needed just to cover the noodles. I take a wooden spoon and push them down so the broth is over all. If noodles are above the water, then sometimes you will have a harder noodle.
Pressure cook for 6 minutes with a 6 minute natural pressure release.
Once you have opened the Instant Pot, gradually stir in the shredded parmesan cheese and cream once complete. Serve onto plates and enjoy!
