Creamy flavors of the classic philly cheesesteak wrapped up in a one pot meal. A perfect mix of seasonings with an even mix of peppers and onions all in one bite! If you are a fan of Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, then you are in for a treat with this recipe.
The combination of ingredients come together in the most delicious way using the Instant Pot. My husband loves philly cheesesteak so I was thrilled when I first made this. Another variation to add the dinner rotation.
Will cooking the peppers and onions make them mushy?
It’s not always easy to make an incredible meal that everyone loves. If you want to go lighter or heavier on the peppers and onions, that is perfectly fine. I add them both in when cooking the beef, but if you prefer a pepper al dente then hold until the end. I cook them with the beef because of that added flavor mixed in.
Can I use a different type of pasta?
Yes, if you do not have macaroni pasta, then penne or rotini would be great. Just about any pasta would work that you have on hand.
Ingredients needed for Philly Cheesesteak Pasta
lean ground beef
medium yellow onion, diced
Italian seasoning
garlic powder
onion powder
Worcestershire sauce
beef broth
elbow macaroni pasta
Provolone Cheese Slices
Salt and pepper as desired
How to make Philly Cheesesteak Pasta
1. Set the Instant Pot to sauté and add the ground beef and season with salt. Cook until browned.
2. Add the diced onions and peppers. Cook for a few more minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent them from sticking to the bottom.
3. Add the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and mix everything together.
4. Pour in the beef broth and scrape the bottom.
5. Pour in the macaroni into the sauce evenly. Be sure the pasta is completely submerged in the broth.
6. Pressure cook for 3 minutes with a Quick Release.
7. Add the cheese slices on top and gently mix into the pasta until well combined. Enjoy!
