How fun is it to create and explore how to make play dough kits?!

We have found the perfect combination of ingredients that creates the softest dough! I’m going to show you how to make it and then how to make play dough kits! How fun for kids of all ages! Above is my little girl, Audrie and she is 1 in this picture and she is playing with a favorite, the Unicorn kit!!

How to make the play dough

First, I’m going to tell you how to make the play dough. There is also a printable at the bottom of the page. You will need flour, salt, kool-aid packets in a variety of colors for more than one color, cream of tarter, water and oil. You will basically mix the flour, salt, kool-aid and cream of tarter. Then add in the water and oil stirring with a fork. Once cooled, you can get your hands in it and knead it until well combined. We have made this recipe numerous times and it always comes out fantastic and soft!

How to keep your dough from drying out

With any dough, it will eventually get harder. It’s important to always keep it in an airtight container or freezer bag. I sometimes wrap it the plastic wrap and then put it inside of a freezer bag for two layers. To restore the softness, try adding water a few drops at a time and working it in to moisten the play dough. You can also wrap it in a damp paper towel and put it in an airtight container overnight.

Unicorn Kit Contents

The Unicorn Kit is a favorite and I will link all the items for it below:
Unicorn Figurines
Unicorn Cookie Cutter
Rolling Pin: I highly recommend these because they are wooden and will last.
Baking Cups: These are amazing and come in so many colors you can use with all the kits.
Jewels: So fun, this size is great for play dough.
Crystals: Make sure you get some with enough of the larger crystals like these.
Yarn: colorful yarn with different colors in one roll is the best.
Pom Poms
Glittery Balls: These are lightweight and really fun to roll in the dough. (I found these at Hobby Lobby.)
Pipe Cleaners: Bendable to make rainbows or curl them and stick them in for so much imaginative play.
Pipe Cleaners: Silver and Sparkly
