Instant Pot simple easy egg bites are perfect for breakfast and so delicious! Bite size, packed with flavor and ready to pop in your mouth!
Do you get overwhelmed by all the egg bite recipes and are just wanting something basic with few ingredients? This is the recipe for you and remember you can always add salt and pepper to taste. Egg bites are smooth, bite-sized, quiche-like bites of eggs, cheese, and your favorite mix-ins..
Can I reheat Egg Bites?
Yes! They’re tasty, great for on the go, reheatable and easy to eat. Egg bites are small and quick to reheat. Pop a few on a plate in the microwave and reheat for 1 – 1.5 minutes from frozen or 30 seconds for fresh. It really depends on your microwave.
If planning ahead and you do not want to eat all the egg bites, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for the upcoming week. Pack them in your lunchbox as a high protein snack. If you want to freeze them, thaw them in the fridge for a few hours or overnight before gently reheating in the toaster oven or microwave. Pop in an airtight glass container with a lid and freeze for up to 3 months.
Can I Use Egg Whites?
I think Starbucks sous vide egg bites contain only egg whites. You will need 2 1/4 cups of egg whites. It’s easier to whisk them with a real whisk not a fork.
Making the Egg Bites
I prefer to use one mold at a time because the egg bites tend to come out more evenly cooked when I can. I have found out that you can also double the recipe and stack two molds on top of each other by increasing the time. Just increase the cooking time to 10-12 minutes to make sure that both molds cook through. Grab 4 eggs and 1/4 cup from each category below… egg bites your way!
- Prepare. The first thing you need to do is grease the egg mold tray and set aside. I always use Pam because I can just spray and go.
- Mix. Next, mix 4 eggs, 1/4 cup of cheese and 1/4 cup of milk in mixing bowl.
- Fill. Before pouring this into each compartment, I place chopped bacon into all the compartments and cover it with cheese. The bacon is already cooked. Sometimes I use these Hormel bacon bits for an even faster egg bite!
- Pour. Then you are ready to pour in the egg mixture! I usually fill them up about 3/4 the way because they will expand a bit.
- Cook. Cover your egg bite mold with a silicone lid, not plastic. Add one cup of water to the Instant Pot. Close the lid and seal. Set the Instant Pot to manual high pressure for 10-12 minutes. Let them naturally release for 10 minutes and then quick release.
- Serve. Remove from the Instant Pot and garnish with bacon. Enjoy!!
What type of Egg Bite Mold do I need?
I recommend a heavy duty egg bite mold with a silicone lid. I have used the egg bite mold many times for numerous recipes. It is important to have one that is heavy duty because your items will come out better. Use avocado oil or cooking spray before putting anything in them. A premium quality egg bite mold is best, and includes a silicone lid.
Can I put the LID of my Egg Bite Molds in the Instant Pot?
Yes, only if it is made of silicone. The egg bite mold is made of silicone, so if your lid is also made of that, you can put it in the Instant Pot. I recommend lightly putting the lid on your egg bite molds because it is mainly used to keep all the moisture out. I prefer using it over foil. If you have a plastic lid, it can only be used for storage such as freezing items such as baby food.
How do I know if my lid is plastic or silicone?
If your lid will bend over and touch the other side easily, then it is silicone. If it is stiff and not bendable, then it is plastic.
