Instant Pot Cooking Favorites
We all have our favorite cooking utensils and items that are essential in the kitchen. Below is some of our recommended items whether you are new and starting out or a cooking guru. Shop these items that we use in our recipes.
1. Shredder Claws
These are the Original Bear Paws Shredder Claws, Made In The USA – Easily Lift, Handle, Shred, and Cut Meats – Ultra-Sharp Blades and Heat Resistant Nylon. I use these when I need to shred meats such as pork and chicken mostly.
2. Egg Bite Molds
I recommend one that has a silicone lid. If you have one with a silicone lid, then you can put it in the Instant Pot. If yours is plastic, it cannot go in the Instant Pot. I lightly place the lid on them mainly to keep the moisture out.
I recommend a heavy duty egg bite mold with a silicone lid. I have used the egg bite mold many times for numerous recipes. It is important to have one that is heavy duty because your items will come out better. I still use avocado oil or cooking spray before putting anything in them.
These Egg Bite Molds on Amazon from the Insta Extras are premium quality, comes in a 2 pack and includes a plastic and silicone lid. I am not endorsed by them, they are just ones that I recommend that I have found to be among the best at a reasonable price.
3. Steamer Basket
This steamer basket is stainless steal, so you will not see rust. It also has silicone covering the entire handle and bottom legs. These are great if you want to cook a meat in the bottom of your pot and veggie in the top without letting them mix together. It’s also great for a basket of eggs, potatoes or any other vegetable you enjoy.
4. Push Pan
This Fat Daddio push pan is a favorite because of the quality of material. It is so easy to clean, which gives it a gold star in my book. It’s perfect for cakes, cheesecakes, lasagna and more. Once cooled, you just push the bottom up and your cheesecake for example looks like perfection.
5. Inner Cooking Pot smaller than your Instant Pot
I have a 6qt Instant Pot and this is the 3qt inner pot that I use. I sit it on the trivet when I need to do the PIP method. Have you heard of Pot In Pot (PIP) cooking method?
First, when cooking a thicker meal such as chili or chicken & stuffing, you can use the PIP method of cooking. It allows you to cook without your meal being overly saturated with too much water or liquid. You will not receive the dreaded “burn” notice with this method either. However, it does take a bit longer so let me explain.
I use a 3qt pot inside the 6qt. In order to do this I put 1 cup of water in the bottom of the 6qt pot, then place the trivet inside with the 3qt pot on top.
This is the non-stick inner cooking pot. You can also purchase the stainless steel version as well.
6. Ramekins
Ramekins are perfect to use in your Instant Pot. They are great for personal sized dishes such as crème Brule, lava cakes, personal mini sized cheesecakes, and more. Make sure you stairstep them on a trivet with a cup of water in the bottom. I have the white ramekins above, but they come in different colors as well.
7. Sealing Rings
This is a pack of 4, which is fantastic! You can use two for sweet and savory and then save the others when they need to be replaced. It is recommended to replace about every two years. They are made of silicone and sealing rings are so easy to pop out and change when needed.
8. Mitts
I know this might sound crazy, but these are so handy! They are perfect for removing the trivet out of the Instant Pot. With them being short and only on your fingers, it makes you have more control of holding those hot items your pulling out. I’ve tried the traditional oven mitt and it’s a pain using it. I never thought I would use them as much as I do. They are great stocking stuffers too, I’ve had friends say later that they love them!
9. Wire Trivet
Most Instant Pots will come with a trivet, but some only come with those without handles. I really prefer the one with handles to easily remove the items. This wire trivet comes with silicone wrapped handles for easier lifting.
10. Silicone Trivet
This is another version of the trivet. I do like the flexibility with this one. I have both trivets, but you don’t necessarily need two, ha! I use the Instant Pot so much, I thought it was still useful. The great thing about this silicone trivet is how the handles come together and it actually makes it easier to lift from the central part of the trivet to remove your items.
11. Mini Tart Molds
I love these Wilton Mini Tart Molds. They are the perfect size to make egg sandwiches and they fit right on your bagel. They even come in a pack of 12. I usually do not put more than 6 in the Instant Pot. Depending on the size of your Instant Pot, you could put as many as you want up to the line.
12. Instant Pot Cover
Want to keep your leftovers in the Instant Pot? This Instant pot lid creates an airtight, spill proof and watertight seal on the instant pot stainless steel inner pot. Then you can sit your Instant Pot in the refrigerator and reheat the next day using your Instant Pot. How handy is that?!
13. Cake Pan
Make beautiful Bundt cakes, but also great for lasagna, sticky buns and more. This size cake pan fits right inside your 6qt Instant Pot. Just sit it on a trivet and a cup of water in the bottom.
14. Wooden Spoon
If you like to sauté your meats in the Instant Pot, this spoon is a lifesaver. Wooden spoons work great to degrease the pot before turning on the Instant Pot to do it’s magic.
15. Muffin Cups
I have 2 sets of these muffin cups. They are perfect for no peel boiled eggs, if you haven’t tried it, it’s so easy! These muffin cups can be used in place of an egg bite mold. You can make muffins, mini cheesecakes, personal rice cups already portioned, and so much more. They also work great in lunch boxes or when baking in the oven. I use them to separate my kids play dough toys. Endless possibilities!
